Senate Democrats blocked their Republican collegues from bringing the immigration bill to the floor, while the Department of Homeland Security is set to run out of money on February 27. Democrats object to amendments made by Republicans that would undo the president’s actions on legal protection of illegal aliens. This protection is extended to as many as five million immigrants and their children, who are in the US illegally. “Isn’t that the definition of insanity? Voting for the same bill over and over again,” asked Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona. “I don’t know how you can say that you defund a branch of government and expect it to function.” While Senators are arguing and blocking the bill, DHS is at a high risk of shut down.
