Scientific evidence shows that the climate system is warming since the beginning of the Twentieth century. This results in ice melting, disappearing glaciers and more potential catastrophic natural events. In the recent decades, the increases in global temperature and atmospheric carbon dioxide have been much faster. Sea levels are rising and subtropical deserts are expanding, with the consequence of weather events as heat waves, droughts, heavy rainfall and snowfall, ocean acidification and species extinction.
